Challenge: Stripe It! (2025)

It's time to STRIPE IT!
Let's go modern with striped fabric or your own home-made stripes, which must be incorporated in your quilt or quilted item.
Use any fabric (solids or prints) and any color way. The PRIMARY focus of your quilt should be the creative use of stripes.

Challenge Guidelines
Participants will need to submit a finished quilt top. It does NOT need to be quilted and bound.

There are no size limitations. Overall size will not be used for judging.

Winning entries will be those deemed to respond to the challenge most effectively and creatively; fully showcasing the modern aesthetic.

Entries must include a short “artist’s statement” in which the participant will explain what makes their interpretation modern (i.e., what elements of modern quilting they incorporated into their project). Quilters must also acknowledge if their item uses an existing pattern or design from another artist. Examples will be provided at a later date.

Entries will be judged and winners chosen by the full board (or proxies chosen by the board) and Swap and Challenge Committee. Winners will be chosen based on how well they respond to the prompt, regardless of size.
Challenge Prizes
We will have participation prizes in addition to:
Judged Prizes
- 1st place = $100
- 2nd place = $75
- 3rd place = $50
Prizes will be in the form of fabric-store gift cards. Again, winners will be chosen based on how well they respond to the prompt, regardless of size.
Additionally, there will be three randomly drawn participation prizes awarded of $20 fabric-store gift cards. The 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners are ineligible for the randomly drawn prizes.
