2025 May Meeting

May 10, 2025 - We were back to the Center of Clayton for our May meeting where our programming featured Amy Sueter, for Wellness Wisdom from Your Guild-mates with special guest, Rich Wolpert from Sawyer Creek Artistry.  We also have a great time swapping our Block Lotto blocks and showing off what we've been up to in Show and Share.

Please join us in a future meeting. We meet most months on the second Saturday of the month. Most monthly meetings are open to the public. Please check the Events tab for more details. Occasionally, some month's meetings are canceled due to other activities during the month.

Kitty Wilkins Lecture and Workshops - May 30 - June 1, 2025


We are the official St. Louis chapter of the Modern Quilt Guild (STLMQG), which was founded July 20, 2010, by Kristy Daum. The guild was born out of a desire to connect with other quilters and sewists from around the area who have an interest in the modern aesthetic. 

We are a unique guild in that we strive to present "All Things Modern, All The Time." Regardless of whether you are an experienced quilter or just bought your first few yards of fabric, we hope that you will find our guild inspiring, educational, fun, and entertaining.

What is Modern Quilting?

In our opinion, the best definition of modern quilting can be found on the Modern Quilt Guild's (MQG) site, part of which is below, although we encourage you to visit the MQG's site for the full experience.

"Modern quilts are primarily functional and inspired by modern design. Modern quilters work in different styles and define modern quilting in different ways, but several characteristics often appear which may help identify a modern quilt. These include, but are not limited to the use of bold colors and prints, high contrast and graphic areas of solid color, improvisational piecing, minimalism, expansive negative space, and alternate grid work. 'Modern traditionalism' or the updating of classic quilt designs is also often seen in modern quilting."

    Please join your fellow St. Louis MQG members at the 9th Annual Sew Me St. Louis weekend, where there will be plenty of laughs, sewing, and opportunities to make memories and new friends! 

    All Day / (Almost) All Night Open Sew (room closes at 11:5o pm)

    Swaps, Demos, Raffles, and More

    This event will be open to all current St. Louis MQG members.

    There will be an option to register for specific dates, or you can select the weekend option for all three days.  Cost:  Friday - $45, Saturday - $45,  Sunday - $30 (closes at 5 pm)

    Admission fees help to cover the rental cost of the ballrooms, swag, and other incidentals.  

    Over the course of the three-day weekend, in addition to getting some quality time with your sewing machine, you can attend various demonstrations, participate in networking and fun activities with other members, and have an opportunity to win some great raffle prizes.

    Sew Me St Louis Registration Opens on July 14, 2024.


    Payment must be made by August 14 in order to hold the slot.


    Cancellation Policy: Cancellation requests must be made in writing to stlmqg@gmail.com. A full refund will be issued to requests made between July 14th and August 14th. A 50% refund will be issued to requests made between August 14th until September 15th. No refund will be issued to cancellations after September 15th.
